It seems like some men were created for war. In Soldier's mind, war was created for HIM.
Soldier is a man's man, and as such he does manly things in a manly manner. He's a veteran of World War 2 (only stopping when he found out about the war's end in 1949) and fully believes that he learned a great deal on that battlefield. He prides himself on his sense of strategy and his ability to motivate his troops. However, he is the type to spend hours formulating a plan of attack, only to throw them away five minutes into battle. If there is a threat he tends to shoot first and ask the gibs questions later. The rules of his home universe have given him an almost bright outlook on death (It hasn't stopped him yet) and fear is not a word he uses lightly.
Soldiers view of the world, physics, and the way people interact causes said people to often question his sanity. In his head everything is crystal clear in shades of black and white. He has trouble grasping the grayness of some concepts and when confronted by this, he'll either ignore it or blow it up. He often confuses words or makes odd connections between things. (Example: Zoos are named for the military strategist Sun Tzu) Yet for all of the Soldier's twisted logic, he is incredibly confidant of his answers to life's questions and somehow manages to be right. Occasionally.
He has a deep patriotic streak and is generally a good team player. Typically Soldier is of the opinion that HIS team is THE best team to the point that they are the only ones with a right to walk, breath, or do other various activities living creatures perform. He doesn't care to attack ladyfolk. (Yet let it be clear that a woman shooting or otherwise attacking him can and may quickly fall from the "ladyfolk" category.)
A simple man, Soldier doesn't need much. Give him his rocket launcher, put him on a roof and tell him to keep watch and he would break down in tears thanking you, except that "real men don't have tear glands don't you know that?" A cold beer and a good cigar are all he needs in his downtime.
